COLE BALLAY
2nd Annual "KANG FEST"
SATURDAY, JULY 11, 2009

"...I can remember even as a very young child the sensations of running with the ball at my feet and the breeze whipping by my hair and ears...I must also remind myself that soccer is more than diligence. It is a sport, which I have always enjoyed. Like all games, it involves skill and strategy. This is what makes a game fun…When I am out on the field, it is as though everything else drifts away. Anger, confusion, frustration, worry and all outside distractions become insignificant. The exhilarating feelings of my youth resurface from memory to present reality." Cole, age 13

Dear Coach and/or advocate of the “Beautiful Game”,

On Saturday, July 11th, 2009, the family and friends of Cole Ballay will be hosting the 2nd Annual Kang Fest, a “Carpe Diem” celebration We would like to extend an invitation to your team to participate in KANG BALL this year.  It is a "not quite ready for prime time" kind of 5 v5 soccer event.  In addition to the usual points/prizes for goals scored, individual players are rewarded for their execution of creative moves and teams for their theme.  Its intent is to celebrate the pure joy of youthful, athletic passion with a twist.

We hope that you will view this annual fund raising event as an opportunity for many things. One of which is the chance for you and/or members of your team to spend time together in this lighthearted competition. It has the potential to renew passion and camaraderie during it and throughout the festival’s many events.  (Schedule on line)

Although most of those who competed last year were dedicated soccer players, other teams consisted of cross-gendered members who formerly played soccer but who presently are dedicated to other sports, such as lacrosse, football, wrestling, etc.  And yes, there were two ‘vintage’ soccer teams who, much to the chagrin of the younger competitors, stole the show.  So, please consider getting a team together of yourself and friends who just love to play the game.  This year we are looking forward to widening the range of players and establish brackets to reflect the varying ranges of skill and age.

We would greatly appreciate your spreading the word amongst your players, friends and soccer network. They would not only be supporting,  the “Cole T. Ballay Memorial Fund”, but also take time to ‘seize a day’ of fun.
