RICHMOND, VA (JUNE 27, 2011)- The 2011 ECNL National Championship is set to kick-off in Aurora, Colorado at the Aurora Sports Complex on Thursday, July 14, 2011.  The ECNL National Championship will feature all current ECNL Member Clubs (52), with a total of 164 teams competing for age group national championships, promotion and relegation between the "A" and "B" flights in each age group for the 2011-12 season, and an overall ECNL National Club Champion. Each team has been assigned to a play-off group based on their position in the final ECNL regular-season standings, and each team will play three games over three days.
"The ECNL National Championship is the biggest youth female soccer event in the country, and is the culmination of an entire season," said ECNL President Christian Lavers. “To have so many teams participate, with each team playing for something meaningful - whether it be an age group championship, a contribution to the overall club championship, or promotion or relegation – makes this event something that every player looks forward to.”
At the conclusion of the 2011 ECNL National Championship, an ECNL Overall Club Ranking will be published.  Using a pre-determined point scale (outlined in the 2011 ECNL National Championship Guide), each age group team will be assigned a point value based on their age group Club Ranking Points. The U15-U18 Club Ranking Points for each team will be added together for the Overall Club Ranking.  The club finishing with the highest number of Club Ranking Points will be crowned the ECNL Overall Club Champion for 2010-2011 ECNL seasons. The clubs finishing in the top 26 in the ranking will have their incoming U15 team placed in Challenge A for the 2011-2012 ECNL seasons. The clubs that finish 27 and below will have their incoming U15 team placed in Challenge B for the 2011-2012 ECNL seasons.
“Winning the Overall Club Championship, or even finishing high up in the club rankings, is a very prestigious accomplishment, as it takes into account the contribution of the entire club,” said ECNL Vice President Doug Bracken. “Developing players and teams consistently across all age groups is something all clubs should aspire to.”
The 2011 ECNL Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Every ECNL Member Club, including the 12 new clubs accepted for the 2011-12 season, will be in attendance to discuss ECNL operations, structure and player development.  In addition to announcing Eurosport as the ECNL’s official retailer for the soccer product category, the ECNL will announce the launching of its female-specific Health, Wellness, and Rejuvenation Platform (HER Platform).  For more information, please contact Sarah Kate Noftsinger, ECNL Commissioner.
