CHICAGO (Oct. 22, 2014) – U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team head coach Javier Perez has named a 36-player roster for the team’s training camp from Oct. 23-31 at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center in Carson, California.
The majority of the roster features players who are involved in their first camp at this age group. Every player is born in 1997, so this cycle is geared toward the group that would be involved in the qualification process toward the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The nine-day camp will include an intrasquad match on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Update: The U-18 MNT has also scheduled two games during the camp this Thursday. The U-18s face a pair of USL PRO sides with LA Galaxy II in the morning and Orange County Blues FC in the evening.
Among this roster, 35 of the 36 players are currently registered with Development Academy clubs, and everyone has a tie-in with an Academy club. Midfielder James Murphy was a member of Players Development Academy’s national champion U-17/18 team this past summer, as well as a member of the U.S. Futsal National Team during its trip to Argentina. Bennett Sneddon was the winning goalkeeper and defender Michael Lopez and forward Adrian Vera played the full 90 minutes during the LA Galaxy U-15/16 Academy team’s 2-0 win against Real Salt Lake AZ in its national title game on July 19.
