Brian White makes PDA History + Boys Alumni Roundup
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for our PDA Boys Alumni - with our very own Brian White making PDA history, and many of our Alums starting (and continuing) their pro journeys!
The excitement started on December 19th, with the 2024 MLS SuperDraft. Four PDA players were drafted, the most of any amateur club in the country. Kyle Linhares was selected #40 overall by the Portland Timbers; Stas Korzeniowski was selected #53 by the Philadelphia Union; Brendan Mcsorley was selected #79 by St. Louis City SC; and Babacar Niang was selected #78 by Minnesota United FC.
We can’t wait to see them all begin their pro journeys!
Just two days later, on December 21st, the New York Red Bulls announced that they have re-signed our Daniel Edelman to a new four-year contract. In Daniel’s second season with New York he started 23 matches and played 1,861 minutes - and it would have been even more than that if not for a long stretch in the middle of the season when he was serving as captain of the US U20 YNT in the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina!
Our friends at New York Red Bulls were not done yet though, as on January 14th they announced they were signing Roald Mitchell to a Homegrown Contract, making Roald the latest in a long line of PDA players who have broken through to play professionally for the Red Bulls. Roald is currently with the NYRB First Team (along with Daniel) at the Coachella Invitational.
Another in that line is our very own Brian White, (who broke in with the Red Bulls but now plays for the Vancouver Whitecaps) who has capped off PDA's exciting couple of months with a call-up to the US Men’s National Team!
In the history of PDA’s Boys program, we have had many many players represent their country at youth national team level, even more have moved onto the professional ranks - and of course every year we place players at the highest levels of college soccer. Brian though, is our first call up to the full US Men’s National Team, fulfilling a long-held club-wide goal, and we couldn’t be prouder of him for representing the USA at the highest level!
On January 20th, Brian made PDA history when he started the match for the USMNT vs. Slovenia as a target forward. A memorable day for Brian and for all of PDA!
Many of our other Alums have been busy as well. CJ Olney recently signed his first professional contract with Philadelphia Union. In the USL - Anderson Asiedu signed with Hartford Athletic, Loudon United got in on the action as well, signing both Tommy McCabe and Christiano Francois, and just recently James Murphy signed with Detroit City FC while John Murphy Jr. signed with Forward Madison FC.
It seems like everywhere you look in American professional soccer at the moment, PDA players are excelling. We are so proud of all of them, and with so much excitement in the last few months, we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2024 has in store for our boys!
